Storm to spread heavy snow across Denver, Intermountain West late this week

Winter won’t quit just yet across the western United States as a new round of heavy snow will bury Colorado beginning on Friday night.

The snow will come to the delight of skiers and snowboarders, but to the displeasure of short and long-term travelers through the region and warm weather enthusiasts.

Flight delays, including at Denver International Airport, and slippery and snow-covered stretches of interstates 25 and 70 are possible.

Heavy snow will fall on the northwestern side of a storm poised to unleash a significant severe weather outbreak over the South Central states.

“Enough snow could fall to shovel and plow across parts of Colorado, Wyoming and northern New Mexico by Saturday afternoon,” AccuWeather Meteorologist Brett Rathbun said.

The snow will fall at a fast enough pace to quickly accumulate on roadways and make driving dangerous.

The heaviest snow will fall on the mountains south and west of Denver to west of Colorado Springs and Pueblo, Colorado.

“April snowstorms are not unusual across Denver as they typically receive their bigger snow events during the fall and spring months,” Rathbun said.

Denver averages 10.7 inches of snow in March and 7 inches in April. The snowfall average decreases to 1.3 inches in May.

Rain could mix with or change over to snow in parts of western Kansas, west-central Nebraska. Accumulating snow will reach part of the panhandles of Oklahoma and Texas.

Winds strengthening around the storm’s center will whip the snow around and cause areas of blowing and drifting snow and low visibility. Localized blizzard conditions may occur, as well as sporadic power outages.

“It will be a cold day on Saturday with high temperatures running 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit below normal for late April,” Rathbun said.

The gusty winds will lower AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures into the 20s F.

In the wake of the storm, natural melting and freezing cycles could lead to slick spots into early next week. Afternoon highs will climb into the 50s and 60s F, with lows dipping to at or below the freezing mark.

Selling Your Atlanta Home

The Atlanta real estate market isn’t thriving right now. There are a lot of homes on the market without buyers. If you’re trying to find a buyer for your home, you are going to have to bring your A-game.

With that said, there are plenty of things you can do that will increase your chances of making a sale. Follow these tips, and you should be able to find a buyer without a problem.

Hire A Realtor

“For Sale By Owner” works when the real estate market favors sellers. When the market favors buyers, you’re going to need extra assistance in order to secure an offer.

If you bring in a real estate agent, they’ll ensure that plenty of people come see your home. They’ll help you to create an appealing listing, and they’ll help you to price your house appropriately. If your goal is to sell your house right away, hiring a realtor is the smartest thing that you can do.

Rent A Storage Unit

Your house probably feels like a home right now. However, if you want it to become someone else’s home, you’re going to have to get rid of some of the personal touches. You should take down family pictures and get rid of any clutter. Make sure that the people that visit your home will be able to picture themselves living there.

If you rent a storage unit, you’ll be able to remove a lot of the items in your home. From there, you and your realtor can work to stage your home in an attractive way.

List Your House At The Right Time

It can be hard to find a buyer for a home at certain times of the year. For example, you may not be able to find a buyer for a while if you list your home during the holidays. People have a lot going on during the holidays, and they aren’t going to be looking for a new home.

The end of winter is a great time to list a home. A lot of people start house hunting as spring arrives. If you plan things out, it’ll be much easier for you to attract a buyer.

Need to get your Atlanta house off the market? If you need to sell your house, you should definitely follow these tips. If you use these suggestions, you’ll get an offer on your house in no time at all.

2017 NFL mock draft: Denver Broncos select Antonio Garcia

Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos don’t necessarily have a starting quarterback between Trevor Siemian an Paxton Lynch. Nor do they know which one can lead the team in the years to come.

The only way Denver can truly figure out if Siemian or Lynch are the future of the franchise, they need a good offensive line in front of them. Denver struck out last season with Russell Okung, and players like Ty Sambrailo and Michael Schofield just aren’t good fits at left tackle. That’s why going into the draft next week it’s imperative the Broncos find a starting left tackle.

Scotty Payne of Mile High Report didn’t take one in the first round of the mock draft, but he lands his blocker in the second.

51. Denver Broncos: Antonio Garcia, OT, Troy

Payne: I passed on top tackles Garett Bolles, Ryan Ramczyk, and Cam Robinson in the first round to select running back/wide receiver/offensive weapon Christian McCaffrey. This left the Broncos with a glaring hole at left tackle still, but I had my fingers crossed that this prospect would be there in the second round, and thankfully he was.

That prospect being Troy’s Antonio Garcia.

The 6’6, 302-pound Garcia would give the Broncos a potential Day 1 starting option at left tackle. Right now, for whatever reason, they have Donald Stephenson penciled in as their starter at left tackle, so it shouldn’t take much for Garcia to bypass him on the depth chart.

While Garcia needs to hit the weight room and doesn’t have the long arms you like at left tackle, I believe he has starter-quality traits and gives the Broncos a viable option at the left tackle position and someone with a high upside.

It is tempting to go tight end, inside linebacker, cornerback, or edge rusher here, but the Broncos really need an offensive tackle and there is a huge drop off in talent after Garcia. If the draft were to play out like this, I would imagine the Broncos go cornerback and tight end in round three.

Analysis: Waiting on an offensive tackle is a huge gamble. Unlike running back, for instance, it can be impossible to find a serviceable player off the scrap heap known as day three of the draft. In a way, the Broncos — and Mile High Report by extension — are lucky that Garcia is still around. While he doesn’t grade out as a first-round pick because of his current strength limitations, he has the type of athleticism desired in the position. If he can bulk up in the NFL, he strikes me as a David Bakhtiari sort of blocker.

Dan’s top five players remaining
26. Tim Williams, LB, Alabama 39. Teez Tabor, CB, Florida 41. Alvin Kamara, RB, Tennessee 45. Jarrad Davis, LB, Florida 46. Chris Wormley, DL, Michigan
Broncos picks:

That finishes our three picks for the day in the SB Nation NFL writers’ mock draft. We’ll get things going again tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. ET with the Cleveland Browns getting their fourth and final pick in thanks to Dawgs by Nature.

Is Denver Redefining What It Means To Be A Mile “High” City?

Denver is famously nicknamed the ‘Mile High City.’ This in reference to the fact that the city’s elevation is over 5,280 feet, putting it over a mile over sea level at the coasts. Despite the fact that it sits at the end of the Great Plains and is generally a flat place, the fact that it sits near the center of the continent, and at the base of the Front Range of the Rockies, makes it very high up.

It’s always been a major destination for tourism. Featuring all five major league sports and being the capital of the state, it’s the biggest city to be found in any direction for hundreds of miles. It serves as a transportation gateway to tourist attractions like Pikes Peak, Aspen, and Vail. However, it’s also quickly developing a rather new tourist industry, and that’s folks who like to use marijuana.

The legality of the substance is still in some dispute, particularly at the federal level, although enforcement is very rare. Given the wide availability of the substance in the state now, combined with increasing tolerance and local government regulations ranging from lax to even permissible selling and use, those who still live in parts of the country where marijuana is still very much restricted are more likely to vacation here so they can partake in the drug. A running joke is that it redefines ‘Rocky Mountain High.’

Colorado was certainly not hurting for tourism before this happened, as it’s one of the most popular states in the Union for people to visit for a vacation. However, this new element is drawing in a new brand of tourist looking to do something they can’t do back home, and here they get to do it in a place with great views.
